Leather knee pad more commonly associated with the artillery but clearly stamped property of Salford C.D.E committee first aid depot. Dated 1941. When I first saw these I thought they may be the 50s CD using up war stocks but then one that will be staying in my own collection has a CD label dated 1943. They must have been used by stretcher bearers when kneeling to pick up stretchers.
